Incubators and Hubs

Global, with an office and/or program in Uganda

  • AfriLabs is a pan-African network of technology innovation hubs. It was founded in 2011 to build a community around rapidly emerging tech hubs―spaces that serve as physical nexus points for developers, entrepreneurs, and investors.
  • The International Labor Organization or ILO run a Youth Entrepreneurship Facility which is present in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
  • ActiveSpaces was formerly known as Limbe Labs Ventures and was founded in February 2010. The company fosters open collaboration space and serves as an start up incubator and technological facilitator for African techies.
  • The first phase NM-AIST is finished and scholarships are now available and applications are being entertained by the organization. This serves as an entry point for various potential startups in East Africa.
  • i-venture AFRICA is an East African based start-up incubator
  • Unreasonable East Africa is an entrepreneurs incubator
  • Outbox is a community led co-working space and platform for startups, creatives, techies and business professionals to turn their ideas that leverage mobile and web into sustainable businesses.

Uganda-based

  • Business Development Center Uganda offers entrepreneurship training together with business services like mentoring and incubation. BDC brings together local and international experts on a wide array of subjects to advise business owners. Their flagship course is a 14-week entrepreneurship course that runs three times a year.
  • Based in Kampala Uganda and founded on June 2010, Hive Colab was co-established by AfriLabs. This is basically an open and shared community owned working platform for novice tech entrepreneurs.
  • KATI is a youth-led social enterprise that provides a unique package of business training, mentoring and access to competitive start-up loans for young people in northern Uganda.
  • The Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited is an advocacy, capacity-building and networking organizations for women entrepreneurs in Uganda.
