Gifted Hands Network
Gifted Hands Network aims at reducing breast cancer deaths among women by carring out early detection and prevention of breast cancer. We recruit visually impaired women and train them to become certified medical tactile examiners to carry out the early detection and prevention of breast cancer using there genius, heightened and well trained sense of touch. The training transforms their disability into a medical ability, the superior sense of touch of a blind woman can detect breast cancer lumps much more effectively than a doctor once medically trained. Therefore the visually impaired women use there genius, heightened and well trained sense of touch as an opportunity to create employment for themselves and also save lives of women from breast cancer deaths. Once breast cancer is early detected can easily be cured by the treatment methods available in Uganda like chemotherapy.
